Tak bnyk DVD yg aku tgk kebelakangan ni coz terlalu sibuk dgn kerja dan keluarga aku. Aku Cuma sempat tgk The Fog which for me is sucks! Terus terang aku katakan yg aku tak berapa enjoy original version of this movie yg diarahkan oleh John Carpenters pada thn 1980. So, aku tertanya2 kenapa perlu buat remake of this film.

Film ni megisahkan kepulan asap yg melanda bandar Antonio Bay yg sebenarnya adalah merupakan roh2 org yg mati teraniaya di dlm sebuah kapal lebih 100 tahun yg lepas. Sekarang mereka kembali dan ingin membalas dendam terhadap penduduk2 Antonio Bay ni.

Walaupun original version of this movie aku rasa boring, tapi masih ada unsur2 suspen. Suasananya menyeramkan ditambah dgn music score yg quite haunting. Remake yg baru ni kekurangan unsur2 suspen dan lebih focus kepada effect CGI pada kepulan asap dan roh2 yg mati hidup kembali. As a result, takde unsur2 seram, dan effect yg mereka tonjolkan juga tidak berjaya. Filem ni juga lemah dari segi lakonan. Aku suka Tom Welling dlm Smallville, tp aku rasa dia ni sesuai berlakon siri TV aje. Lakonan Selma Blair pun tak bnyk menolong kalau nak dibandingkan dgn filem2 previous nya spt Cruel Intention atau In Good Company.

DVD filem ni includes Director’s Commentary dan beberapa deleted scene disamping trailer2 utk filem2 yg akan datang. Peminat filem2 seram akan hampa dgn filem ini dan bolehlah skip this title drp collection anda.

Petrol naik & M'Nasir

As expected, harga minyak naik lagi hari ni…30 sen seliter. Aku pun dah malas nak komen lagi, kalau aku komen pun bukannya harga minyak akan turun. So, pasrah ajelah. Tapi yg aku tensionnya, kenapalah berita ni cuma sampai kat aku pagi ni, bukannya semalam…! Kalau aku tau seblm midnight semlm aku togok kereta aku dgn petrol penuh2…! Kat ofis semlm pun takde org citer pasal kenaikan ni. After ofis hour pun takde tgk berita, coz aku melawat anak buah aku baru lepas bersalin. Sampai rumah adalah dlm 11.00 mlm dan terus tidur.

Ada dengar lagu baru dari mentor aku M.Nasir kat radio Era. Kalau tak silap tajuknya “Juwita”. One word….”sempoi…!” Sifu dah kembali pada akar umbinya dan lagu ni juga ada gaya2 idola M.Nasir sendiri iaitu Bob Dylan. Berdasarkan interview dia dlm suratkhabar, dia akan masukkan elemen2 ska dlm album kali ni. Aik…??! Tak pernah aku dgr M.Nasir nyanyi lagu ska ? Nak kata dia baru dlm ska ni takde jugak. Dia dah buktikan dlm lagu2 ciptaannya utk kumpulan Spider. Tapi kalau dia yg nyanyi sendiri, itu sesuatu yg baru la. Tak sabar nak tunggu kemunculan albumnya Mac ini and surely aku akan komen dlm blog aku.

P.I.S.S.E.D...!

I’m really pissed…!!! Recently, a relative of mine bought 10 title of my DVD collection and when returned back, one of it is only cover without disc! The title is WHITE NOISE and they claim that the disc was in it when they returned it. Then who the hell have stolen it! Another previous case is that my MADAGASCAR & NATIONAL TREASURE is also lost & I forgot who borrowed it! I’m pissed that all my relative, cousin or even sister & brother think that my collection of DVD is something like a rental shop for them. The difference is they don’t have to pay anything to rent it! Even it is a pirate DVD RM20 for 3 titles, but it also money! I cannot say to them “you cannot borrow my DVD” or “Pls take good care of my DVD title” because they might feel offended by me….relative maa….have to keep good relationship.

My point is there are 2 types of peson who buys DVD….the first one is the one that only watch it, don’t care about picture quality, got DTS or not and after watch it just throw it away. The second one is who after watch it, take good care of the disc, keep it nicely in the box or folder for collection. I’m the 2nd type, and I expect those who borrow also take a good care of my collection. Now have to really2 keep track of what they borrow from me and make sure it is in good hand.

Ini lah antara album yg aku masih dgr sampai sekarang and always ada dlm kereta aku utk didgr waktu boring. Masih aktif tetapi hilang bisa, semua anggota dah tua.

Band ni masih ada but hilang sengatnya. I think the type of music that Robert Smith & kuncu2 ni main dah outdated sikit. Muzik cenderung ke arah pop rock but with elements of melancholic and gothic. Very depressing…! Kalau dgr lagu Love Song dlm album Disintegration ni boleh buat aku mengalirkan air mata…!

Lagu Enter Sandman masih segar dlm ingatan & sering diputarkan di radio. The rest of the songs in this album semuanya power2 belaka. Lepas album ni, mereka dah hilang bisa dan menghasilkan ‘crap’ album spt “Load”, “Reload” & “Saint Anger”. Masih wujud tapi dilupakan kerana hilang bisa.

Kekuatan band ni adalah pada suara Eddie Vedder yg serak2 nervous nya. Band ni suddenly meletup pada zaman tu dgn album debut diaorg Ten. 2nd album juga antara album grunge terbaik pernah dihasilkan. Tak sama line dgn Nirvana but still dlm kategori grunge. Aku dah tak ikut band ni setelah album yg disappointing iaitu “Binnaural”.

Kekuatan band ni juga pada suara Billy Corgan yg sengau tu. As far as I know, this band dah dibubarkan and Billy Corgan pun tubuhkan band lain iaitu Zwan. Lagu Bullet with Butterfly Wings mmg rock habis, lagu yg buat kau nak banging sampai tercabut kepala. Ada masa mereka ni rock and ada masa can be very melancholic.

Funk rock band yg berperangai tak senonoh. Aku heran kenapa band ni dah mellow dan bnyk hasilkan lagu slow. Dah jadi mcm band slow rock. Anyway, zaman Mother’s Milk and Blood Sugar Sex Magik, mereka truly one hell of a funky mothefucker…!

Arrrggghhh…tension aku nak menghabiskan tgk filem ni. Bknlah aku ni tak suka filem love story, tp cuma love story di zaman 18th century ni susah sikit aku nak terima. Mana taknya, dgn heronya yg stiff & serious dan dialog yg berbunga2 yg kadang2 aku tak faham. Tp basically, cerita ni simple aje. Based on Jane Austen’s classic tale mengenai sebuah keluarga yg mempunyai 5 anak perempuan dan di zaman itu, mak bapaklah yg selalu menggalak & mencari jodoh utk anak2 perempuan mereka, samada di kalangan org kaya atau tentera. Filem ni lebih mengfokuskan kepada watak seorg anak perempuan mereka iaitu Elizabeth lakonan Keira Knightley yg secara tak sengaja jatuh cinta kpd Mr Darcy, seorg hartawan yg sedikit angkuh. Ini berbeza dgn Elizabeth yg ceria, dan perbezaan inilah yg menyatukan mereka. Kekuatan filem ni adalah pada kekuatan lakonan Keira dan Mathhew MacFadyen. Jalan cerita filem ni sgt perlahan. Mungkin sesetengah akan menyukai filem2 sebegini, tetapi aku tidak. For me it’s quite boring and susah utk aku mengulas lebih lanjut mengenai filem ni. By the way, this DVD also got no extra features, and it's more of a demo copy with very clear picture.

Cartoon series that I grew up with

Dungeon & Dragons
Sekumpulan kawan yg pergi fun fair and tersesat dlm salah satu permainan di situ. Mereka terkandas di dunia lain and mencari jalan bagaimana nak keluar drp dunia itu. Aku lupa la nama2 character2 yg ada kecuali Orko (tak sure betul ke spelling dia), makhluk kecik yg ada magic.

He-Man & the Masters of the Universe
My fave cartoon and aku ada quite a number of their action figure toys. Watak2 yg aku ingat ialah He-Man, Skeletor and Castle Greyskull. Pernah di remake ke filem, lakonan Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella. Ada juga cartoon version baru of He-Man tp itu bukn zaman aku.

Thundercats
Cartoon yg paling happening & bnyk pengaruh. Masa tu sibuk mintak ayah aku belikan pedang Thundercats nak berlawan dgn kawan2. Kenapalah aku lupa nama watak2 dlm tu, yg aku ingat Cuma heronya iaitu Lion-o. “Thunder…thunder….thunder…thundertcats…hooo…..!!!”

Transformers
Ini lagi satu fave cartoon aku. Perang antara Autobots dgn Decepticon mmg best. Robot2 semuanya boleh bertukar menjadi mcm2 benda especially kenderaan. Nama2 spt Optimus Prime & Megatron sentiasa terngiang2. Ada keluar Transformer the Movie (animation) zaman video dulu….dan aku dgr akan ada remake arahan Michael Bay. Sayang….action figure Transformer sgt mahal dan aku cuma ada yg kecik2 aje.

Mask
Ini bukan The Mask yg makhluk hijau tu. Singkatan utk Mobile Armoured Strike Kommand. Askar2 kat cartoon ni semua ada kenderaan masing2 yg boleh transform dr satu kenderaan ke kenderaan yg lain. Cth: kejap jadi kereta, kejap jadi kapal terbang. Cartoon ni aku kurang minat sebab animation dia kurang menarik, but the action figure is very nice and cheap too….

The upcoming movie that will never see the light of the day in M'sia

Besides many upcoming big movies such such as Spider-Man 3, X-Men 3, Mission Impossible 3, Pirates of the Carribean 2 etc.... one movie that caught my attention is HOSTEL. The reason is because it has Quentin Tarantino's name in it but not as a director but as a producer. The director is Eli Roth who last work is in CABIN FEVER. Heard it is full of violence & gore and I guarantee it will never screen in M'sia. Anyway looking forward to this movie on DVD.

So after kawan2 sekerjanya dpt tau yg dia virgin, mereka ni berusahalah mcm2 cara nak kasi Andy ni get laid termasuklah pergi ke kedai wax utk cabut bulu dada…torture siol…! Dan sepanjang cerita adalah beberapa perempuan yg Andy kenal dan hatinya terpaut hanya pada si Trish ni yg sama umur dgn dia and janda. Moral cerita ni sebenarnya nak mengatakan yg ‘sex is not everything’ in our lives la… tp for me…sex is a part of our lives…! Kadang2 kita akan rasa kesian dgn Andy kerana dia ni tersangaaaaatlah innocent dan kena buli dgn kawan2nya yg hampeh. Kadang2 menyampah pun ada sebab lebih pentingkan action figure collection dia drp sex, waktu atas katil dgn Trish.

This film reminds me of AMERICAN PIE, yg mana 4 remaja mempunyai misi nak pecah dara sebelum mereka graduate. Manakala film ni, kawan2 Andy mempunyai misi, nak kasi Andy ni pecah dara! Ada beberapa nude scene dlm film ni tp taklah bnyk mcm AMERICAN PIE. Film ni taklah merepek dgn lawak bodoh, here & there ada diselitkan mesej2 yg tertentu.

Extra features DVD ni ada bnyk deleted scenes yg kelakar gila…Aku pun tak habis tgk deleted scene ni sebab terlampau bnyk.

DVD's Purchase 19/02/2006

Hari ni member ajak pegi Sg Wang beli DVD, mula2 rasa mcm malas sebab tgh bulan, tapi what the heck... I got 6 titles today, but satu tu utk anak aku Power Rangers. The titles :

1. The Descend - 90% clear aje....menyesal pulak beli.
2. Chicken Little - sesuai nak ringankan fikiran aku setelah menonton
cerita yg berat2.
3. Zathura - pun nak ringankan fikiran.
4. Domino - teringin nak tgk Keira Knightley lakon film gangster.
5. Elizabethtown - because of Kirsten Dunst.

Ada satu title tajuk Munich. But i heard the synopsis mengenai Palestanian terrorist and hostage nya org Israel. Walaupun arahan Spielberg, tp aku rasa menyampah nak beli dan aku rasa makin menyampah dgn Spielberg kerana tau ajelah, dia ni pro-Yahudi.

The 1st Blonde Bond

Well, as u all know, the new James Bond will be Daniel Craig. I know most of you surely hate this 6th Bond because he is so not good looking like previous Bond. But in my personal opinion, he is a fresh new look for Bond, we need some ‘reformasi’ on Bond as I’m already sick and tired to see the model-type Bond like Brosnan. Furthermore, seing Craig on Layer Cake, gives me more confident that he will be a good...Bond.

CASINO ROYALE will soon to come, and Mads Mikkelsen will be the villain and Eva Green will be the Bond girl. Eva Green previously is in the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN film with Orlando Bloom and Bertolucci’s THE DREAMERS. At first they announced that Charlize Thereon will be the bond-girl, but dunno what happen…a bit disappointed. Anyway, watch out for CASINO ROYALE soon….

Mengisahkan empat sekawan yg mempunyai minat yg sama iaitu scuba diving. Suatu hari Jared telah terjumpa serpihan kapal bersama harta karun di dasar laut secara tak sengaja, dimana tujuan utamanya ialah utk mencari jamnya yg hilang. Keempat2 sekawan ni akhirnya teruja untuk meng'explore' dgn harapan mendapat lebih bnyk harta. Tetapi secara tak sengaja juga mereka terjumpa sebuah kapal terbang yg hanyut sarat berisi dgn dadah. Nyawa mereka didlm bahaya setelah 'drug lord' yg ada kena mengena dgn kapal tenggelam tersebut mengetahui mengenai penemuan mereka.

Pemandangan di dasar laut cukup indah dlm film ini. Di tambah pula dgn kecantikan Sam, lakonan Jessice Alba yg aku rasa sbg daya penarik utama filem ini. Kalau anda tak terpegun melihat keindahan dasar lautan, anda mungkin akan terpegun melihat body Jessica yg memang solid dari atas ke bawah. Lakonan Paul Walker, Jessica & Scott ak rasa average aje. Tapi lakonan Ashley Scott agak menarik pada pendapat aku, kerana dia berjaya membawa watak sbg kawan, penggoda and pembelot juga.

Jalan cerita filem ni biasa sebenarnya. Tak perlu bnyk berfikir bila menonton filem ni, cukup sekadar untuk hiburan ringan di hujung minggu saja. Seperti yg aku katakan, daya tarikan hanyalah laut dan 'babes in bikini'.

Sorry bro, takde apa2 special features utk DVD ciplak yg aku beli ni. Cuma trailer utk film ni aje.

DEWA 19 - Republik Cinta (2006)

Yes, DEWA dah kembali ke nama asal DEWA 19. Personally, aku prefer this album drp “Laskar Cinta”. Album ni lebih emotionally touching dan feel berbanding “Laskar…” yg bnyk straightforward rock. Album ni juga menunjukkan kematangan kumpulan Dewa especially Ahmad Dhani dlm menggubah lagu. Sesiapa yg masih baru mengenal kumpulan DEWA, perlu diberitahu bahawa kumpulan ini bknlah seperti PETERPAN or SHEILA ON 7, yg lebih kepada alternative rock. Susah utk categorizekan concept DEWA kerana mereka memainkan konsep yg agak ‘variety’. Tapi pada saya, cukuplah saya melabelkan mereka sbg kumpulan pop/rock yg innovative. Album “Republik Cinta” ini merupakan salah satu contoh betapa susahnya saya nak melabelkan muzik mereka, namun pengaruh sumber inspirasi mereka iaitu kumpulan QUEEN dan nampak menyerlah dlm album ini. Cuma masalah aku adalah dgn lagu bahasa Inggeris yg bnyk dimuatkan yg aku rasa terlalu bnyk, namun aku faham bahawa album ini adalah juga utk dipasarkan keluar negara and mereka juga telah berhijrah kepada syarikat rakaman berlabel antarabangsa. Mereka masih setia dgn mengekalkan tema “cinta” dlm lagu2 mereka tapi dgn cara tersendiri yg cukup indah & puitis.

Laskar Cinta (Chapter 1 & 2)
Irama middle east yg dicampurkan dgn sedikit techno & sampling. At 1st quite weird jugak dgr lagu ni tp lama2 layan beb. Start with vocal Dhani yg very sempoi and chorus dgn vocal Once yg mantap. Actually Chapter 1 & 2 bersambung tp yg kita dgr di radio adalah chapter 1, yg endingnya di potong quite ‘badly’.

2. Emotional Love Song
Yg ni antara personal fave song aku dlm album ni. Mula dgn vokal harmoni yg sebijik mcm satu lagu kumpulan QUEEN and terus masuk muzik yg berirama perlahan dan berunsur2 muzik pop.

Larut
Lagu ni tak begitu menyerlah utk aku dan sesekali dgr mcm lagu retro pop 80an.

Sedang Ingin Bercinta (feat Mulan from RATU)
Lagu yg paling kreatif and innovatif dlm album ni & kena dengar dgn open minded. Start dgn intro mcm lagu Craig David’s Seven Days. Very R&B. Biasa la….vocal Dhani time ni mmg mcm suara malas, but penuh dgn soul. Then terus masuk chorus yg rock habis oleh vocal Once. Dan Mulan dr kumpulan RATU (band bini Dhani) ada contibute vocal pada pertengahan lagu ni dgn lentuk dangdutnya. What type of song is this….? But, I like…..

Perasaanku Tentang Perasaanku Padamu.
Dgr lagu ni mcm dgr lagu oldies. Ikut rentak ala Unchained Melody.

Lelaki Pencemburu
Straight edge rock, lagu rock paling aku suka dlm album ni.

Lover’s Rhapsody
Lagu Inggeris yg sgt melankolik dan memerlukan penghayatan utk meminatinya. But lirik Inggeris dlm lagu ni sometimes kedengaran agak lucu.

I want to Break Free (QUEEN cover)
Akhirnya DEWA 19 memuatkan lagu idola mereka dlm album. Mereka me’rock’kan lagu ini dan mmg layan habis.

Flower In the Desert
Lagu bercorak ‘broadway’ & lagu yg paling aku tak suka dlm album ni. Tambah pula dgn lirik Inggerisnya. Tapi sometimes kedengaran mcm lagu previous mereka iaitu “Cemburu”.

10. Live On
Lagu hard rock and sedikit folk alternative pada permulaan. Lagu ni ciptaan Once, satu percubaan yg baik utk beliau.

11. Selimut Hati
Entah kenapa lepas dengar semua lagu di atas, aku merindui DEWA yg lama dan lagu ini menjadi pengubat rindu aku. Sebuah lagu yg sgt tenang ala2 “Kosong” and vocal Once yg paling feel dan ditambah pula dgn female vocal harmony yg betul2 syahdu. Dgr lagu ni terasa nak selimut dan terus tidur, sesuai dgn tajuknya “Selimut Hati”. He, he…..

Flightplan (2005)

Seblm Raya Cina hari tu, Jumaat mlm tu lepas blk keje aku bergegas ke Sg Wang (once again) to buy DVD. I know tauke2 tu akan cuti panjang, so need a few stock so that i can enjoy my holidays. Masa cuti tu sempatlah aku tengok film Flightplan lakonan Jodie Foster.

Sinopsis

My Thoughts

Film ni quite entertaining, coz kita eager to know the ending and whether betul ke si Kyle ni just imagining things or betul2 anak dia on board. But for me, i feel that awal2 anak dia hilang lg dah tunjuk something is wrong dlm kapal terbang tu. I mean cerita tu seolah2 nak tunjukkan yg Kyle tu ada mental problem, tp tak berjaya kerana awal2 lg kita dpt rasakan anak dia tu kena culik. Tp aku pun malas nak cerita lg pasal logik film ni, yg aku tau this film is quite entertaining and sesuai ditonton di semua peringkat umur. Lakonan Jodie Foster, mcm biasa la, mmg superb and dia mmg sesuai lakon film thriller mcm ni. So aku bagi :
