My Fave Comic to Film Adaptation

Dah jadi trend skrg ni, semua watak2 komik mesti dijadikan filem. But tak semuanya menjadi. It depends pada pengarah sendiri whether nak stay true to the comik book spirit atau ada tokok tambah and ubah sikit. There are actually many dissapointing adaptation compare to the really good ones. I think yg paling aku regret ialah film Spawn, which I think the comic book is fabulous, tapi bila pergi ke big screen, aduh...! A very dissapointing B-movie flick...! The rest mcm Elektra, Fantastic Four or The Hulk pun aku rasa average aje. So here's my top 6 of my fave comic book adaptation. The 1st place goes to :

SPIDER-MAN

Actually, berbelah bagi jugak antara this film and X-Men. Tapi I enjoy more Spider-Man movie coz ceritanya memang stay true to the comic book spirit. Both part 1 & 2 adalah equally best. The casting especially Peter Parker & ketua editor Jonah tu mmg sebijik mcm dlm komik. Part 3 is on the way, and ada desas desus mengatakan costumenya akan jadi black/white...??? No, i don't think so. For this upcoming Part 3, villainnya utamanya maybe Venom, the guys yg costumenya mcm Spider-Man but in a black suit. It is scheduled for 2007 release.

X-MEN

Bryan Singer, the director for both Part 1 & 2 put this film a more sophisticated and more serious than the comic book. I'm a big fans of X-Men comic book waktu thn 90an dulu. From what I see, di komik watak2nya lebih colourful compare to the film. Filem version customenya lebih selari dan warna lebih gelap dan suram. Aku suka pendekatan yg Bryan Singer gunakan, semua watak boleh dikatakan berjaya menjiwai watak komik, kecuali Cyclops yg aku rasa mcm terlalu muda aktornya dan tak menyerlah langsung. X-Men : The Last Stand akan ditayangkan tak lama lagi di pawagam.

BLADE

Terus terang, aku tak pernah tgk baca langsung komik Blade but the Blade movie series is ultra cool. Mula2 tgk hero negro rasa bosan sikit but lepas tgk the 1st part, mmg aku enjoy it! Blade ni half human and half vampire, so kita boleh tau yg dia ni ada sikit human side and tak 100% jahat and hisap darah. So dia battle against all bapak2 vampire yg ganas dan evil, so that the human race can live in peace. Agak jarang jugak jumpa sebuah filem yg sampai sequel yg ke tiga, masih mengekalkan kualiti cerita yg baik. I heard akan ada series TV Blade tak lama lagi.

BATMAN

Too many sequel for Batman...ada yg berjaya dan ada yg totally flop. Yg flop adalah version yg takde Michael Keaton and Christian Bale. Maksud aku yg dilakonkan oleh George Clooney and Val Kilmer. So the first 2 film og Batman mmg best menampilkan villain spt Joker, Catwoman and Penguin. Then followed by two sequel yg agak bodoh Batmannya, villainnya dan ceritanya. The inclusion of Robin and Batgirl was a big mistake! Just when I thought that Batman will never see the light of the day, then came Christopher Nolan's version of Batman aka. Batman Begin. Dia dan pelakonnya Christian Bale telah berjaya menghidupkan kembali kegemilangan filem ni.

SUPERMAN

Sama nasibnya dgn Batman. The first 2 film memang best and true to the comic book spirit. Then comes the 2 sequel, pun bodoh jugak mcm Batman. Filem ni takde menunjukkan sebarang peningkatan lagi, tapi we should wait for Superman Returns yg akan diarahkan oleh Bryan Singer. Aku confident dia akan menghidupkan balik kegemilangan filem ni walaupun casting baru utk Superman/Clark Kent adalah seorg pelakon baru.

SIN CITY

Filem ni belum menampakkan taringnya lagi sebab baru keluar satu part aje. It is based on Dark Horse comic book by Frank Miller and bukanlah bertemakan superhero but more focus for matured readers. Memang adaptation film ni sebijik mcm komik! Tgk film ni mmg a graphic noir at its best and I can't wait for the 2nd outing yg akan release tak lama lagi. A lot of violence scene and suitable for open-minded person only!
